Jess Tudor of Brier Island has waited patiently for 7 months with whale blubber in a freezer. Marine Animal Response Society executive director Tonya Wimmer co...ordinated for the pick up of the frozen sample collected from a minkie whale that washed up in February to studied by the researchers at M.A.R.S and their contacts. Well yesterday was the day. To heed the call was volunteer Gally who took a moment out of her family whale watching trip vacation (she saw a breach) to bring the sample of the minkie collected in February of this year near Tiverton NS. However due to a dead humpback whale washing ashore, the first of august Jess also had 2 more samples to give researchers. I guess being a volunteer for MARS may make a family trip like Gally had, one she won't soon forget. To volunteer or to donate to the group http://marineanimals.ca/site/ Special thanks to Ray Tudor for use of his freezer to hold samples since Feb. Sorry about the whale smell. More info about the whale's samples will be forthcoming after tests have been made. See more

Hello everyone Lobster season is winding down and I'm preparing for this year's sea salt with my new eco-friendly technologies that I've been working on, videos will be posted soon as I can. Processing Brier Island seawater and collect the NaCl on Brier Island is a daunting task due to low temps during summer and high humidity, however as in anything important in life it's only done with hard work and patients. Besides working with NaCl I've been working with Brier Island Agate which is mainly Si02 the final tumble is done the tin oxide which has been washed off and Brier Islands world famous unique agate slabs and none formed cabs are done check out Brier Island Rocks. Thank you for your time and support.
